What is Healthy Tennessee?

Welcome to Healthy Tennessee, a community-driven initiative dedicated to improving the health and well-being of everyone who calls Tennessee home. We believe that when individuals suffer, the entire community feels the impact. With Tennessee currently ranked among the lowest in health nationwide, we’re committed to changing this reality. By uniting all sectors of our community—including business, agriculture, faith, healthcare, politics, and education—we aim to create innovative solutions that empower all Tennesseans to achieve health and wellness, so they can thrive and live their fullest lives.

Mission

Healthy Tennessee’s mission is to empower individuals and communities across the state to take control of their health and well-being. We strive to provide accessible resources, foster collaboration, and promote education that enables every Tennessean to live a healthier, happier life. By addressing the root causes of poor health and offering sustainable solutions, we aim to improve the overall quality of life for all our residents.

Vision

Our vision is to create a Tennessee where every person has the opportunity to live a long, healthy, and fulfilling life. We envision a state where health disparities are eliminated, and every community is equipped with the tools and support needed to thrive. Through collective action and a commitment to innovation, we aim to transform Tennessee into a model of health and wellness for the nation.

The Health Challenges We Face

Healthy Tennessee aims to address these health challenges by bringing together all sectors of our community to drive meaningful change. Through partnerships with businesses, government, churches, schools, and other key organizations, we can create a unified approach to improve health outcomes across the state. By sharing best practices and fostering collaboration, we will raise the tide that lifts all ships, casting a vision for every Tennessean to not only survive but thrive.

Help Us Reach Our $300,000 Goal!

Together, we can make a significant impact on the health of our state.
Please consider making a donation today.

Our goal is to raise $300,000 to support both the Blue Zones analysis and the Healthy Tennessee Summit. These funds will help us host a powerful summit that will bring the region together and launch our efforts. They will also support 8 months of in-depth health assessments in the Sullivan County area, allowing us to collect crucial data and insights. The outcome will be a set of strategic goals, developed through collaboration with local stakeholders, to drive lasting health improvements across the community.

What are BLUE ZONES?

Blue Zones are regions of the world where people live significantly longer and healthier lives compared to the global average. These areas have been identified through research by National Geographic Fellow Dan Buettner and his team, who studied the lifestyles and habits of communities with high concentrations of centenarians. The five main Blue Zones are Okinawa (Japan), Sardinia (Italy), Nicoya Peninsula (Costa Rica), Ikaria (Greece), and Loma Linda (California, USA). Common traits of these populations include plant-based diets, strong social connections, regular physical activity, and a sense of purpose. The Blue Zones concept highlights the importance of lifestyle choices in promoting longevity and well-being.
